FAQs
Designed to welcome from 10 to 480 people, our spaces adapt to your event and to the services you wish to book. While the Grand Amphitheatre offers the largest capacity, our adjoining salons and the Petit Amphitheatre make every configuration possible.
All ground-floor spaces are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Access to the third-floor spaces, however, requires the use of stairs or a small service lift. The third-floor spaces are therefore not suited to visitors with reduced mobility.
Meetings and workshops for 10 to 50 people can be held in our salons.
Exclusive seated dinners for up to 80 people can also be held in our salons.
The hire includes:
- Access to the privatised spaces
- Support throughout every stage of your event
- A dedicated stage manager for projection, sound and lighting
- Furniture and technical equipment
- A cleaning team on hand to refresh the spaces throughout the event
- Cleaning of the spaces after the event
- A team of security and fire-safety (SSIAP) officers to ensure your guests’ safety
We offer 9 spaces available for private hire within the building, but no outdoor space.
The heritage character of the building does not allow dance parties. You are, however, free to provide background music or a small musical ensemble during your event.
Once the private hire contract is signed, we ask you to pay a deposit of 50% of the total amount including VAT. The balance is invoiced after the event and is payable within 30 days.
Dedicated time slots for deliveries and collections are provided by your contact person, according to the needs and technical complexity of your event.
As we cannot guarantee the availability of the spaces, we kindly ask you to respect these slots. Otherwise, deliveries or collections will be refused.
In exceptional circumstances, your contact person will find a suitable solution.
Yes, we have a cloakroom area equipped with rails and hangers for 330 people. Staffing the cloakroom and purchasing tickets remain your responsibility. We do not, however, have a luggage room, so please plan an alternative solution if a lot of luggage is expected.
Yes, for every event held at the Maison de l’Océan we provide a team of security officers for people and property, fire-safety officers and personal-assistance staff.
They ensure the safety of the venue and your guests by checking entries, visually inspecting bags and making sure safety and evacuation rules are followed throughout the event.
The arrangements are drawn up by our teams and vary according to the configuration of your event and the number of guests expected.
Located in the heart of Paris in the 5th arrondissement, between the Panthéon and the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Maison de l’Océan enjoys a setting that is both historic and prestigious.

Many configurations are possible, with respect for the venue:
- Structures must be free-standing and nothing may be hung on the walls
- All installations must take emergency exits and evacuation routes into account
- Technical and audiovisual installations must be approved in advance by our stage manager
For any specific set-up, we will always offer a dedicated technical site visit to make sure it is compatible with our spaces.
