It commands attention through its dimensions, its oak-panelled walls, its sumptuous crystal chandelier and its monumental carved oak fireplace bearing the arms of the Grimaldi. The institutional heart of the Institute, it is occupied at its centre by an immense rectangular oak table surrounded by Louis XVI-style chairs upholstered in brown leather. Facing the windows, Prince Albert I is depicted with the members of the first board of directors in a large-scale painting. These figures attest to the standing of the place: the physicist Henri Becquerel, the former President of the Republic Émile Loubet, and Paul Regnard, the first director of the Institut océanographique. The painter, Prince Albert I’s privy counsellor Louis Mayer, appears in it as well.

Designed for discussion and decision-making, the Salle du Conseil seats up to 19 participants around its modular heritage table. Its hushed atmosphere and its historic character make it a setting of choice for boards, strategic meetings, executive committees or institutional gatherings. A light videoconference setup can be installed to suit your needs. It can also host exclusive seated dinners in an intimate setting.

When it supports a larger event, the room takes on a more open layout. Its table, folded away, becomes a buffet at the caterer’s disposal and contributes — alongside the Hall, the Salon Laugier, the Petit Amphithéâtre and the Salle d’Exposition — to hosting catering and networking.
